La Punta is at the very end of Zicatela beach frequented mainly by experienced surfers, this area is famous for surfing and people visit from all over the world as the waves are very large. I wander down this part of the beach often as the waives mesmerize me and there are very few people and and just a few surfers.
My favorite spot to just chill, stare at the waves and meditate is a few hundred yards further up from where the surfers are at a little restaurant on the beach called “Rincons” I can sit under the shade of one of their Palapas (a Spanish word of Malayan origin, meaning “pulpous (palm) leaf”). and eat my favorite breakfast, spinach and Oaxaca cheese omelette, beans and tortillas, coffee and a bottle of mineral water, all for about $4 USD. This time of the year there are very few people on the beach so it is very peaceful.
